Iva becomes Friend of Australia
Ahead of his Australia Day Ambassador duties in Wauchope on 26th January and touring with Hall & Oates in New Zealand and Australia, Iva Davies from ICEHOUSE has been in LA for G'Day USA as a guest of Tourism Australia. 2012 marks a very significant year for Iva Davies and ICEHOUSE, as it is the 30th anniversary of the release of one of the band’s most successful songs and an unofficial Australian anthem – Great Southern Land. To coincide with this landmark year Iva Davies was invited to be a Friend of Australia by Tourism Australia and traveled to Los Angeles for G’day LA Week.
Iva attended the Qantas Spirit of Australia intimate cocktail party at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel where Miranda Kerr was announced as the new Ambassador for the airline. In a surprise performance, Iva sang acoustic versions of Great Southern Land and Electric Blue to guests who included John Travolta, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Joannau & Laura Csortan, Ryan Kwanten, Olivia Newton John, Jamie Durie, Nicholas Bishop, Phillip Noyce, Rachel Taylor & Josh Lucas, Theresa Palmer and Jackie Weaver.
Iva was also invited to attend the annual Black Tie Gala on Sat 14th Jan at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel where Guy Pearce, Luc Longley and Air Supply were honoured. Flying the Australian flag Iva enjoyed a 3 course meal by Guy Grossi along with other guests including Minister Martin Ferguson, Alex O'Laughlin, Delta Goodrem, Priscilla Presley, Kate Winslet, John Travolta & Kelly Preston, Paul Hogan and Linda Kozlowski, Simon Baker, Miranda Kerr and Jack Vidgen.
